💦 Water Tank Cleaning Robot | HKCRC

At HKCRC we have developed an autonomous cleaning robot for potable water tanks. Equipped with a high-pressure water jet mounted on the robot, it can clean the tank surfaces effectively. The robot first follows the wall and cleans its surfaces while mapping the environment. After that, it performs coverage path planning to ensure all areas of the floor and ceiling are cleaned as well. At the end the robot goes to the center of the tank and takes pictures in all 4 directions. The pictures will be analyzed by a computer vision model and rates the cleanliness of the tank.

Delivering laundry in a hospital might sound simple—until you try to automate it. At the Hong Kong Logistics and Supply Chain MultiTech R&D Centre (LSCM), I worked on an autonomous robot designed to transport laundry from hospital wards to the basement laundry room. The project was a deep dive into the realities of robotics in complex, human-centric environments.
